About Us

Michaela Collins

Raised in the wild and wonderful country of central Appalachia, Michaela grew up with a deeply rooted connection to the natural world, water systems, and the communities that depend on them. She obtained an A.S. in Wildlife Resources Management from Hocking College in 2018, followed by a B.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Resources from West Virginia University in 2020. Throughout her early career she has worked for watershed conservation nonprofits, a state environmental protection agency, and in academic research on freshwater mussels and warm- and cold-freshwater fish. In these roles she’s gained over 9 years of hands-on experience in aquatic science and conservation, environmental education and outreach, and community-based nonprofit management.

A 2026 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Master of Natural Resources in Fisheries & Aquatic Science, and a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management & Leadership, Michaela is overjoyed to continue growing and flowing with Flint Riverkeeper!
