Kalyn Hansford

My name is Kalyn Hansford, and I am the Watershed Specialist for the lower half of the Flint River.

 I grew up on the outskirts of Orlando, Florida, where I spent most of my childhood outdoors, either riding horses, playing in the freshwater springs or fishing on the coast with my dad. These experiences helped foster an immense appreciation of the outdoors and the ecosystems around me. I moved to Tifton, Georgia, to attend college at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) where I gained a degree in Natural Resource Management with a focus on wildlife. During my time there, I got to learn so much about South Georgia and its fascinating ecology that I decided to stay.

 While at ABAC, I met my husband, Triston, who is a biologist for Georgia Department of Natural Resources. We welcomed our first child, Lyanna, into the world just a few weeks before I started in this position. We are excited to raised Lyanna with a love of the outdoors that compares to our own.

 Since moving to South Georgia, I have gained work experience in environmental education, habitat management and I worked as a Private Lands Wildlife Biologist before transitioning to this role. I am excited to be working to help conserve the Flint River and all that it impacts!
